Faceted Beads
If you are into bead artwork or maybe just interested in finding out more about beads, you will already have probably found out that there simply are a myriad of bead types. Faceted beads are so-called because of the fact that they are not simply round but have different sides or ‘faces’ to them. If you have ever seen a diamond with various sides or ‘cut’, then you will have a clear picture of how faceted beads look like. The creation of the ‘facets’ or sides are a work of art themselves as they also have to be carefully structured in order to give it a nice appearance.
Faceted beads are distinguished mainly by their ‘cuts’. Other than that, one can get them in a variety of shapes as well. Some of the more common bead shapes are round, tear drop, flat, oval, rondell and pear shape. They may also have different finishing depending on how they were manufactured. They can be fire-polished, transparent or copper-lined. Also, faceted beads can be made from various materials such as glass, jade, plastic, crystal, acrylic, garnets and jade and turquoise. Faceted beads may be an easier material to work with when it comes to those who form a structured artwork by stringing beads together as they are more likely to take shape. They may also mimic jewelry, especially those made from high-quality glass and can be used as pendants, bracelets or maybe even earrings. Faceted beads can be found in many bead shops and may have different designs which you can look through for your specifications.
